New Building: Revised Design

Here it is! The images include the site plan, the first and second floor plans, the seating layouts, and some perspective views. The design presented on this page and in a more detailed PDF (scroll down the page to see the link) is a CONCEPTUAL design. That means:

  • Building form and floor plan is 90% settled
  • Window and door placement is not complete
  • Roof forms could change
  • Colors are SUGGESTIONS
  • Exterior finishes are SUGGESTIONS
  • Interior finishes have not yet been developed
  • Any of the finishes and colors can and probably will change

TRY NOT TO REACT TO COLORS OR MATERIALS CHOICES… See them as suggestions lending flesh to the concept.

NOTE: Ongoing design efforts
Keep in mind that since these designs were developed, the New Building committee has sought and received input from every committee at TBI, as well as individual members. The dozens of thoughtful suggestions and comments they have generated, from bathroom and kitchen placement, to possibilities for natural lighting, etc., are currently being integrated into the next phase of the design, and do not show up in these drawings.

Full plans

Full floor plans, seating plans, and more elevations are available as a PDF. Within the PDF, you can zoom in on individual portions of the plans, which are highly detailed.

The pictures are large, so the PDF may take a few moments to open. Click on one of the links below to open that portion of the plans.

Editor's note: some of the walls indicated in the plans are modern, sound-proof, moveable walls, indicated by a wavy line. The "fixed seating" in the sanctuary is a small number of benches; additional seating will be moveable. Discussion is still ongoing about the placement of the bimah, the orientation of the seating, and so on - this is considered an internal furnishings issue, and does not have to be resolved before construction can begin on the building. Also note that the plans here do not include the drawings of the basement floor, which contains a spacious caretaker apartment, storage area, and elevator.

To view the PDF file, you must have a free program called Adobe Reader. You can get the latest version of Reader here. If you have an older computer, you may want to get an older version of Reader, here.
