A Message from Rabbi Yitzhak (June/July 2008)

“This is the day the Eternal One has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

These words from Psalm 118 best describe what we will feel in only a few days as we join together in the dedication of our new synagogue. We have worked so hard for a decade to fulfill this vision. Our determination kept us moving forward even as changes and challenges presented themselves. There were no short cuts. Our beautiful new home is an authentic reflection of our values and our loving desire to create a place that will serve our community and give honor to our sacred heritage for many decades into the future.

Heartfelt Gratitude for a Most Precious Day

We could not have come to this time without the efforts and generosity of countless individuals who stepped forward to put their hand to the task. Our tradition reminds us to give thanks to G-d for giving us the vitality and the resources that allowed us to come to this precious time. As the words of the psalmist say, “Unless the Holy One builds the house, those who build labor in vain.”

May our hearts overflow with gratitude for the great blessing that Hashem is allowing us to experience through this gift and accomplishment. Again the psalmist speaks, “And let the beauty of the Eternal One our G-d be upon us; and establish the work of our hands upon us; O prosper it, the work of our hands.”

Blessed are You, Eternal One, our G-d, the sovereign of all worlds, who gave us life, and kept us strong, and brought us to this precious time.
