Support for Immigrants, Asylum Seekers, Latinx Community

​

• Support for immigrants & refugees: Get the newsletter, support, donate, volunteer for Catholic Community Services/ Refugee and Immigrant Services Program (RISP), www.rrclc.org.

• Support for asylum seekers: Oregon Community Asylum Network (OCAN) assists and advocates for people seeking safe haven in the United States through grassroots organizing, education, and sponsorship. https://grassrootsconnect.org/ocan

• Plaza de Nuestra Comunidad (Plaza) offers wraparound services to Latinx and immigrant families in our local community. Visit their website to learn more about their programs or to make a donation: www.plazacomunidad.org

• Long time hub for political action for social justice, the Community Alliance of Lane County (CALC) continues the struggle for racial justice, immigrant rights, economic justice and educational equity and opposing heterosexism, and anti-Semitism, calclane.org/.

• Legal info for immigrants and allies, including a know-your-rights video: Eugene based Civil Liberties Defense Center (CLDC), cldc.org.

• Oregon Department of Justice Sanctuary Promise Program has a community toolkit with information, resources, and rights information covering Oregons’s sanctuary laws: SanctuaryPromise.Oregon.gov and PromesaSantuario.Oregon.gov.

• Action: Support passage of Oregon Senate Bill 611: Food for All Oregonians. Bill would expand food assistance programs to include youth, seniors, and immigrants currently excluded from federal SNAP “food stamps” program.  1) Submit individual Testimony in support of SB 611: https://secure.oregonfoodbank.org/a/submit-public-testimony-help-pass-food-all-oregonians

• Action: (Tuesdays, 9am): Call for Lane County to affirm Oregon’s sanctuary laws at the Lane Board of County Commissioners meetings, Tuesdays at 9am at 125 E 8th Avenue, Eugene. • Action: (Ongoing): Support the campaign for universal healthcare with Healthcare for All Oregon (HCAO) Learn, donate and get involved at https://www.hcao.org/.

Support for Transgender People

​

• Trans Alliance of Lane County (TALC), Eugene-based personal support and political action group for transgender people and allies. Email transalliancelane@pm.me, ask for information from Jacob or Anna.

• Support, education, resources: TransPonder is a transgender-founded and led nonprofit based in Eugene, Oregon providing support, resources, and education for the transgender and gender-diverse community and allies. https://transponder.community/

• Health care, disease prevention, navigation and support: The Lavender Network is a place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other LGBTQ+ people to access specialized services. Includes shared space with community partners TransPonder, Queer Eugene, Pride Day Equality Project, Authentic Movement Project, and HIV Alliance.

• Advocacy and education across Oregon: Basic Rights Oregon (BRO) will ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex, and asexual Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion, and achieving policy victories. https://www.basicrights.org/

• Action: (Tuesdays, 9am) – Submit public testimony in support of specific county action to protect and support immigrant and transgender people in Lane County to the Board of County Commissioners. Lift up the need to continue providing and funding gender affirming medical care in County medical clinics, and to stockpile hormone replacement therapy and other medically necessary supplies in anticipation of a federal shortage or ban. • Action: (now through Nov 2026) – support the Constitutional Amendment, Equal Rights for All, an Oregon ballot measure campaign that affirms the right to abortion, contraception and IVF, transgender health care, and same-gender marriage in the Oregon Constitution. https://www.equalrightsoregon.com/

Support for Racial Justice

​

• NAACP, Support and political action for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.  The oldest and still wonderfully effective. Donate, volunteer, join at https://naacplanecounty.org.

• Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) mobilizes white people for racial justice. Through campaigns, education, and action opportunities, we move people to reject racism and complicity–and to join movements for change.
