Life & Legacy
Life & Legacy Program
Temple Beth Israel is thrilled to participate in the Life & Legacy Program, which is a partnership of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. The program promotes legacy (after-lifetime) gifts to benefit day schools, synagogues, social services organizations and other Jewish entities. By securing legacy gifts, Jewish organizations, such as TBI, can be certain that they will exist for future generations.

Leaving a legacy is simple. Options include:
-
Making TBI an IRA beneficiary

Our Legacy Circle honors those individuals and families who have taken the step to make a legacy gift to Temple Beth Israel.

We invite you to join the Legacy Circle by including Temple Beth Israel in your will or estate plan. Your legacy gift will make the difference between a congregation that struggles in the future and one that has security and the resources to thrive and grow, even in difficult times. Every member of the TBI community can make a legacy gift, regardless of one’s level of wealth. Bequeath the majority of your estate to your family, and consider designating a small percentage to support TBI, just as you’ve done in your lifetime.
Leave your Jewish legacy
There are different ways to leave your Jewish legacy:

-
Bequest in your will or trust. Designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a remainder interest to benefit TBI after funds have been distributed to your family.
-
Retirement asset. Make TBI the beneficiary of all or part of a retirement asset, such as an IRA or a 401 (k) plan. This is easy to do, without revising your will; and it’s tax-savvy, avoiding deferred income tax.
-
Charitable gift annuity or other life income plan. Make a legacy gift to TBI now and enjoy potential tax benefits, while retaining a secure lifetime income at a very favorable rate of return. The remainder will eventually benefit TBI.
-
Life insurance policy. Donate an unneeded policy by naming TBI as the beneficiary.

If you are considering a bequest, please share this suggested language with your estate advisor.
“I hereby bequeath to Temple Beth Israel, a tax-exempt organization, ID#93-0706752, located at 1175 East 29th Avenue in Eugene, Oregon 97403, the sum of _____ dollars [or alternatively, _____% of residuary estate; description of property; etc.] to be directed by Temple Beth Israel for unrestricted congregational support [or alternatively, for the support of a particular Temple program or facility].”
