Temple Beth Israel (TBI) is a center for Jewish life, embracing traditional wisdom with contemporary insight. We promote the spiritual, educational, and social well-being of our members, the Jewish people of Lane County, and the larger community.

 

TBI is a member of the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement. We welcome people of all Jewish backgrounds, interfaith families, and people exploring Judaism, as well as Jews and explorers of Judaism of all races and of all sexual and gender identities. Whether you are religious, cultural, atheist, agnostic, or searching, there is a place for you at TBI!

Our Stories, Our Communities: Jewish Women of Color

Join the Racial Justice Committee this Mother's Day to celebrate amazing women during their next installment of "Our Stories, Our Communities," featuring a panel of Jewish Women of Color talking about their lives. Hear from Dr. Shaina Maxey Pomerantz, a Black Jewish educator, legal professional, and Executive Director of RACE TALKS who made history as the first Black Jewish woman to run for Oregon Attorney General; Miko Vergun, born in the Marshall Islands, who has been involved in climate activism since 7th grade, and speaks at rallies, testimonies, city council meetings, fundraising events, and other climate actions; and Sabina Spicer, who has worked in religious communities since 2015 as an youth organizer, community director, and now as the Program Manager of Cultural Shift at TischPDX.
